The Shikari Devi temple is a famous Hindu temple. It is situated in Mandi district, Himachal Pradesh. This temple is dedicated to Shikari (Hunter)Devi. In this temple the god is in the form of a stone image. In the time of Pandavas the temple is believed to be in existence (Mahabharata Period). This temple has no roof on top.
In the olden days the hunters (Shikaris) worshiped goddess to get success in their hunt. In the old days the goddess was known as Shikari Devi. If anyone tried to build a roof on the top of the temple it would be failure.
This temple is placed in the holy book Markandya Puran and great epic Mahabharata. Sage Markandya meditated here to seeing the goddess durga (Mahishasur mardani). The blessings of Sage Markandya was fill fulled by goddess durga. During the period of Mahabharata. The pandavas also meditated here to get the victory in the yug.

Shikari Devi temple is near to Karsog Valley in the Himalayas in Distt mandi Of Himachal Pradesh with beautiful view of deodar woods and apple orchards. The Shikhari Devi temple is positioned in the middle of snow-capped mountains and dense pine trees at an elevation of 2850 m above the sea level.It is extremely difficult to trek up to the Shikari Devi Temple from Janjheli,Bag said,Kandha or Karsog valley. You can enjoy a beautiful trip with different routes to reach up to ancient shrine of the Shikari Devi Temple located at the peak of the hill. According to old saying/legends that the hunters or Shikari in the early years once worshiped the Goddess on the mountain asking for success in their hunt. So in old days Goddess was known as Devi (Goddess) of Shikari (Hunter) means Shikari Devi. This old temple and Goddess is believed to be in existence from the time of the Pandavas. According to the myth, there will be no snowfall on the top of Temple and snow never stay there.
